Audio Issues During Stream

If you are experiencing audio problems during the stream (i.e., you cannot hear the speakers), please try the following steps:

  1. Make sure a) the audio on the player is at 100% (see red arrow below), (b) your computer audio is not muted, and (c) your speakers are turned up.
  2. If you are on a laptop or desktop computer, unplug any video and audio cables to see if the sound will play directly from your computer’s speakers.
  3. If you are on a phone or tablet, unplug/disconnect headphones and play the video on your device to test if the sound will play directly from the device’s speakers.

Video Issues During Stream

Slow internet speeds and outdated browsers will affect your video quality. Not sure which browser you are using or if your browser is up to date? Go to https://www.whatismybrowser.com/ to find out.

One of the first things you can try is to manually reduce your stream quality by clicking the gear at the bottom of the video player window (see red arrow below). Keep switching to a lower resolution until the stream stabilizes.

If that doesn’t help, try refreshing your browser or using a different browser. Be sure to click the “Play” button on the video player. Check that your device has a working Internet connection by visiting another website and seeing if it loads.

Firewall (malware/malicious site warning)

If you see a “Malware” or “Malicious Site” warning when trying to access the stream, or if you continue to receive errors when trying to play the content, there are some ways to troubleshoot. Please try the following to the best of your ability:

  1. Contact your IT team and ask them to whitelist these links on your internal firewall: resi.ioAND excitem.com.
  2. If you are on a Virtual Private Network (VPN), try turning it off.
  3. Try viewing the stream on a personal device that is not connected to the protected internet account.

If you are still unable to view the live event, the VOD will be available after the event.

Switching to Incognito/Private Browsing

If you are experiencing continued issues playing videos, switching to an Incognito browsing window might help. Follow the directions below based on the browser you are using.

Chrome Incognito: 

The easiest way to open an Incognito window is with the keyboard shortcut combination Ctrl+Shift+N (Windows) or Command+Shift+N (macOS).

Another way is to click on the menu on the upper right – it’s the three vertical dots –  and select New Incognito Window from the list.

In the Incognito window, go to the event link.

Microsoft Edge InPrivate:

At the keyboard, the combination of Ctrl+Shift+N (Windows) or Command+Shift+N (macOS) opens an InPrivate window.

Another way to get there is to click on the menu at the upper right – it’s three dots arranged horizontally – and choose New InPrivate window from the menu.

In the InPrivate window, go to the event link.

Mozilla Firefox Private browsing:

From the keyboard, a private browsing session can be called up using the combination Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows) or Command+Shift+P (macOS).

Alternately, a private window will open from the menu at the upper right of Firefox — three short horizontal lines — after selecting New Private Window.

In the private window, go to the event link.

Safari Private Window:

To open what Safari calls a Private Window on a Mac, users can do a three-key combination of Command+Shift+N, the same shortcut Chrome adopted.

Otherwise, a window can be called up by selecting the File menu and clicking on New Private Window.

In the Private window, go to the event link.
